Fusion Pilates is one of the newest forms of pilates exercise. Pilates instructor Jennifer Gianni, who has instructed some of Hollywood’s leading actresses and even had a cameo in the Mel Gibson movie What Women Want, is generally credited with creating this hybrid of pilates, yoga, aerobics, weight training, and dance. Fusion Pilates also incorporates what is known as the Gyrotonic expansion system. Similar to the Nordic Track exercises, Gyrotonics are used to increase freedom of motion and flexibility while working to strengthen and tone key muscle groups throughout the body.
Fusion Pilates can be used with the Reformer, resistance bands, exercise balls, a traditional floor mat, and other Pilates apparatus and props. Fusion Pilates is also popular for soon-to-be and new mothers during pre- and post-pregnancy. In fact, Gianni’s Fusion Pilates for pregnant women began after she discovered the lack of pilates routines for this niche group. At the time, she was pregnant with her first child.
Fusion Pilates DVDs will give you a comprehensive workout that will challenge you while gently releasing tension and discomforts in your body.
